Red Heeler Aquaponic Sales ... cont ...

Once we had tested the first tanks, swirl filter and nitrification filter we moved back to the grow tunnel. Firstly we installed the return end of the system. This is where the water flows out of the Grow Channel and back to the sump in the Fish Shed.

Water oxygen level is very important. Our Grow Channels are fitted with air inlets. The air gets in through the round air diffusers. These are the same ones we use in the fish tanks.

We can connect several of our Grow Channels together.

Margaret then did the honours and put the first lot of water in the Grow Channel.

And we were nearly there. Please go to Red Heeler 4 for the next part of our installation.

Why did Red Heeler choose to put in an Aquaponic System?

Initially the motivation was the drought. Water allocations in the area were less than 20% making ground cropping almost impossible.
