We are proud to release the latest systems from The Aquaponics Man™ range. These systems are the culmination of hundreds of hours of hands on experience and research. We believe that these systems are the best available today. For the following reasons.

Modular design

These systems are modular. This is so you can expand as your system requires it. Other kits are often fixed and not designed for easy expansion. But this is counter to the nature of an Aquaponics system. When you first get a system you will buy fingerlings. As the fingerlings grow they will need more food and therefore more nutrients will be available for the plants. Doesn't it make sense to buy a system that you can easily add grow beds to as it matures?

Continuous Flow

We have completely embraced continuous flow systems. Having had vast experience with flood and drain systems we have come to the conclusion that they are difficult to manage and prone to failures. Without the aid of complex switches to control the flood and drain process they are fraught with danger. In fact the only significant loss of fish we have had was because of a float switch on a pump in the sump failed after a year of faithful operation! Continuous flow systems rely on only one pump and no switches or timers. They are easier to setup and much easier to manage.

Only Two Base Systems

We have introduced two base systems. Both are expandable. They are the Yard System and the Mini-Commercial System. If you are unsure about the size of the system you need then please go to our System Matrix section and we will help you

The Yard System

This system is designed for people who want a small Aquaponics system for their home. The base configuration is with one fish tank and one grow bed. (You can click on the image for a larger picture).

Everything you need to get started is here. It comes with the grow bed, fish tank, pump,clay ball growing media (no gravel or soil is need), water distribution grid, control taps and fittings. Depending on the stocking density you desire you can either remain with one grow bed or expand to a recommended maximum of four. We sell additional grow bed expansion systems that you can purchase one at a time as your fish density increases. The grow bed expansions come with the bed, ingress and egress pipes, stone guard and clay ball media. Basically everything you need is there to just add it onto your existing system.

We recommend 40 Silver Perch per grow bed as an reasonable stocking density. Each grow bed will support approximately 96 plants at medium stocking density. This system uses a 250 Watt Pump.

The Mini-Commercial

The Mini-Commercial is NOT a commercial sized system. It is however using exactly the same model as our commercial systems. Ideal for the family that likes their vegetables this is a real food production system designed for the home user. The base configuration comes with two fish tanks and four grow beds.

These systems use the highest quality aquaculture fish tanks, 25 year manufactures guarantee, and fibre glass grow beds and sump, 10 year manufactures guarantee. This system is like our commercial systems in just about every way. It comes with our special filtration and nitrification system which makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze. It also uses floating rafts on a bed of water so there is absolutely no other media in the system (including clay balls, soil or gravel).

This system can be expanded as far a you like! We sell expansion kits for the Mini-Commerical which are two grow beds and one fish tank per expansion module. We do recommend that if you are going to expand past our "Serious Mini-Commercial" system that you engage us to develop a true commercial system for you.

Serious Mini-Commercial

This system is designed for those who are serious about wanting to do a commercial system but have no prior experience with Aquaponics. This system will give you all the experience you need and allow you to see if Aquaponics is really for you. It is the most deluxe and serious home production system available.

It includes all the options. A header tank, a quarantine system, eight grow bed and four fish tanks. With this system it is possible to harvest 192 plant per week (medium density) and grow over 200 Kg of Silver Perch per year.

Options

We have developed some important options for our systems.

Header Tank and Top Up System

Our header tank and Top Up System makes maintaining the correct water level in your system a breeze! Our header tank is designed to fit onto our 1000 litre flat bed fibre glass tank. Basically all you have to do is fill it up with water and let it top up your system as required.

Quarantine system

Aquaponic systems are closed systems and so if an infection gets into them it is difficult to cure without a major clean out of the whole system. A major risk for the introduction of parasites for the fish comes when you are adding new fingerlings. A Quarantine System allows you to hold the fingerlings for several weeks prior to introducing them into your main Aquaponics system. This minimizes the likelihood that you will have a problem.
